Infineon launched a new TRENCHSTOP™ 5 WR6 series in the TO-247-3-HCC package, bringing better system reliability

Recently, Infineon Technologies Co., Ltd. (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has launched a new discrete package 650 V TRENCHSTOP™ 5 WR6 series. The series adopts the TO-247-3-HCC package and can realize the rated current separately. With a rich product portfolio of 20 A, 30 A, 40 A, 50 A, 60 A, and 70 A, it can easily replace previous-generation technologies, such as Infineon TRENCHSTOP 5 WR5 and HighSpeed 3 H3 technologies. This series is optimized for power factor correction (PFC) for domestic and commercial air conditioning systems and welding applications.

The TRENCHSTOP 5 WR6 switch can achieve extremely low conduction loss (30 A at 25°C, 1.45 V) and the lowest switching loss (30 A at 175°C, 1.55 mJ). They have a very low saturation voltage (V CE(sat)) of 1.45 V and an integrated reverse conducting diode with forwarding voltage optimized for the target application. This allows the series to achieve lower bill of materials costs while having first-class performance. In addition, the device also has the performance advantages of the previous generation product (ie TRENCHSTOP 5 WR5 series).

The WR6 series adopts the new TO-247-3-HCC package, which increases the creepage distance and electrical clearance, and improves the rated insulation voltage. Therefore, this series can achieve a more reliable system design and can prevent pollution and condensation, which is a common problem in outdoor air conditioning and other applications. Not only that, but the TRENCHSTOP 5 WR6 series can also reduce the total cost of ownership of the system, with a lower failure rate, and also achieve a higher switching frequency in the application.
